Five Things to Know This Month: December 2017

Each month we send you "Five Things to Know" for the life of Village Church. This will typically include classes, info, and upcoming events. We also will give you dates to save as early as possible, so that you can get them on your calendar and be able to plan for them. Here's five things to know this month:

1. Advent + Christmas Eve Services

Advent season has begun at Village Church. Each Sunday leading up to Christmas Eve, we will be looking at the story of Jesus and celebrating the Christmas season together. Here's a few things to know about Advent and Christmas Eve Services: 

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE INFO
With Christmas Eve on a Sunday this year, we will be having our special Christmas Eve services at our normal Sunday times of 9am + 11am. We look forward to celebrating with you, and we hope you will consider inviting friends and neighbors to hear the Good News of Jesus this Christmas.  

CHRISTMAS EVE CHILDCARE
We will have our regular childcare classrooms available from newborn to 3rd grade during both Christmas Eve services. Each classroom will have a special Christmas lesson, and parents will be invited to bring their children in for the end of our service together. 

CANDLELIGHT WORSHIP
We will be lighting candles together at both of our Christmas Eve services. Worshiping Jesus with candle light filling our sanctuary has been a favorite tradition at Village Church for many years, and we are excited to keep the tradition going. We will light candles at the end of both services, and parents will have an opportunity to invite their children to join.

2. Christmas Block Party

Join us for our 2017 Christmas Block Party On December 9th! 

An event filled with great food, games for all ages, an outdoor movie, and holiday festivities throughout the afternoon and evening. Come celebrate the Christmas season with your church family! This is also a great event to invite some friends or neighbors and introduce them to our church.

3. Serve Team Need - A/V Team

We are in need of a few more volunteers to help with our Sunday morning audio/visual team. If you are skilled in these areas, or just interested in learning and joining the team, we would love to help you get involved. Email David for more details // davidhughes@villagechurchirvine.com

4. One Service Sunday - December 31st

We are excited to spend New Year's Eve morning together as a church family. We will be having just one service all together at 11:00am, with all of our regular children's classes. See you there!

5. Christmas Serve Opportunity

This Christmas, we are partnering with Families Forward to provide Christmas gifts to local families in need. On Sunday we had a lot of people grab family snapshot packets and commit to buying gifts for these kids. 

We were overwhelmed with the response, and quickly ran out of our family packets - but there are still hundreds of families on a waiting list to be selected for gifts this year. If you would like to sponsor a family this year and provide them Christmas gifts, you can email us and we will get one sent to you via email. 

*If you picked up a packet on Sunday, please drop off your gifts at Village Church this Sunday or by December 15th
